According to this study out of Italy, the primary response rate (anti-HBs titers greater than 10 milli-International unit/mL) with the Hepatitis B vaccine (HBV) is 98.8%. The incidence of HBV has declined over the last several decades due to improved sterilization of medical equipment, education, and the introduction of disposable medical equipment. The implementation of wide spread use of HBV should have an impact on this disease. The focus of this article was to determine the persistence of the antibody titers in health care workers (HCWs).
