When John Shoemaker (top photo left) founded Kolene Corp., molten salt bath processing was in its infancy. Today, this technology is used worldwide to enhance the performance of automotive and aerospace components, remove organic coatings from finished parts and part carriers, clean castings, and condition specialty alloys exiting a steel mill. Kolene technology is fast, flexible, economical, and environmentally friendly. In demanding applications, it often is the only method of doing the job.The Kolene Nu-Tride process is a proven alternative to conventional heat treat methods. It can be used to increase the fatigue strength of ferrous metal parts from 20 to 100 percent. Production advantages include distortion-free processing, and the option of machining components before they are treated.
