The economic effectiveness of selected elements of winter wheat husbandry grown in different crop rotation positions

From 1988 to 1990 a four-factor winter wheat trial was run on three experiment farms in soil rated as good wheat-growing complex. The position in crop rotation, cultivar and chemical crop protection were the three major factors affecting the economic performance of wheat production. Increased returns from wheat production were possible when cv. Lanca was grown after non-cereal crops at a lower nitrogen rate and was given full chemical protection against fungal diseases.
