摘要

A major essential for rapid development in many sectors of modern technology is the choice of suitable materials which meet the growing need for higher-loadability components. Ferrous materials, such as steel, sintered iron and cast iron, meet this requirement; their physical and chemical properties can he influenced or improved by their composition and a carefully-selected heat treatment.The component properties required determine the choice of heat treatment process. If parts have to withstand a combination of stresses, the properties of surface layers produced by thermochemical processes can he used to particularly good advantage. As a leading surface-engineering process, Tufftride Q, QP and QPQ salt-bath nitrocarburising has an established reputation, as evidenced by the many applications and the process variants for improving component properties.
