Dow Corning and Composite Optics Form Strategic Alliance to Commercialize Silicone Resin Formulations for Missile Radome Applications

At SAMPE 2002, Dow Corning Corp. of Midland, Michigan and Composites Optics Inc. (COI) of San Diego, California announced the formation of are strategic alliance to commercialize silicone resin formulations for Missile Radome Applications. The combination of COI's more than two decades of industry expertise in radomes and the unique performance and processing advantages of Dow Corning's resins will deliver value to customers in a variety of industries, such as aerospace and defense. The first product resulting from this development alliance is a Radome, fabricated by COI using Dow Corning's toughened addition-cure silicone resin and quartz fiber, for initial use in missiles where excellent electrical performance is essential even after exposure to temperatures over 750 F.
