Complete genome sequence of Shewanella psychrophila WP2, a deep-sea bacterium isolated from west Pacific sediment

Shewanella psychrophila WP2 is a psychrophilic and piezophilic bacterium, isolated from west Pacific deep-sea sediment at depth of 1914 m. Here we report the 6,353,406-bp complete genome sequence of S. psychrophila WP2, which is the largest genome among the reported genomes of the Shewanella genus. The genome consists of one circular chromosome with GC content of 443%. The provided genomic information is expected to assist our understanding on bacterial deep-sea environmental adaptation and evolution. (C) 2017 Published by Elsevier B.V.
