MANUFACTURING has the second highest serious claim frequency of any industry in Australia, with an average 8.9 serious claims per million hours worked across the various sub-industries. The highest frequency rate is in the fabricated metal product sub-industry, which recorded 24 serious claims per million hours worked, according to government body Safe Work Australia. As such, the industry is identified as a national priority for the reduction of fatalities and serious claims.
