New NASA RP46 Resin

Unitech, LLC of Hampton, VA received the first purchase order this Spring for the NASA patented polyimide resin known as RP46. This event marks the successful commercialization of the resin and begins, what promises to be, a rewarding relationship for both entities. Unitech is the only company in the world to hold both a license and a mutual operating agreement for development of the resin and recent inquiries from companies worldwide indicate that they will be hard pressed to keep pace with the pent up demand.NASA developed the resin as a nontoxic, low cost alternative to PMR-15, PMR-50 and AFR-700 in the early 90's and interest has been building since. Not only does the resin come in at lower cost with far less toxicity concerns, but it also exceeds the performance limitations of the competition.
