Ultrasonic testing (UT) is one of the traditional and most widespread non-destructive testing (NDT) methods. The main reason for this is that ultrasonic waves can penetrate a volume of metal materials easily and very rapidly. The second reason is that metals are the most widely used construction materials. Therefore, many research groups around the globe constantly push UT ahead and make it both a traditional as well as a modern technique.
