ITMA leads the way for innovation

Following another four-year break, ITMA, the world's largest exhibition for the textile machinery industry, returned to Barcelona, Spain, this year.Held in the city for the second time in eight years between 20-26 June, the event saw a reported 105,000 visitors come together to witness the very latest developments from the diverse industry segment.With more and more textile manufacturers embracing Industry 4.0, this, the 18th edition of ITMA, was given the theme’Innovating the World of Textiles'.This year's edition welcomed 1,717 exhibitors from 45 countries, offering products and services relating to Industry 4.0, automation, the Internet of Things and countless end-use fabric types.CEMATEX, the European Committee of Textile Machinery Manufacturers, and owner of ITMA and ITMA Asia, reported that the industry support from visitors and exhibitors was exceptional, resulting in a record-breaking number of exhibitors since its inception.Commenting on the success of the show, Fritz P Mayer, president of CEMATEX, said:”The digital transformation of the textile and garment manufacturing value chain and sustainability concerns of the industry have driven visitor interests in ITMA 2019.We had a strong turnout, despite trade tensions and poor business sentiments.Many of our exhibitors were pleasantly surprised with the large number of serious buyers attending the exhibition.”
