Steve Chase,president and CEO of Fuels Services,Inc.Oil and Propane(FSi),South Hadley,Mass.,was sworn in as chair-man of the Propane Gas Association of New England at the groups annual meeting on Oct.10 in Portsmouth,N.H.In an interview,Chase noted that fossil fuels are under”attack,”but,he said,fuel marketers have made”tremendous strides in cleaning up”their products.Electricity and heat pumps are not the answer to concerns about energy consumptions effects on the about energy consumptions ettects on tne environment,he added.”Propane is a clean,green fuel,”Chase said.”Its American-produced,and it puts less contaminants in the air.It’s a clean,safe energy when its handled properly’’ Chase said,”Our business is keeping people warm and comfortable.”For decades,the industry enjoyed popularity,but when it came under attack by environmental activists the industry was”complacent and we didn’t tell our full story.Now it’s time [to do that] and that’s my goal as chairman this year,”Chase said.
