Daimler Truck Fuel Cell GmbH created to unite fuel cell activities

Daimler Truck AG has established Daimler Truck Fuel Cell GmbH & Co KG as the organisational and legal framework for bringing together all of the Group's fuel cell activities. Professor Dr Christian Mohrdieck and Dr Andreas Gorbach have been appointed as Managing Directors of the new German-based company. Earlier this year Daimler Truck concluded a preliminary, non-binding agreement with Volvo to establish a new joint venture for the development, production and commercialisation of fuel cell systems for heavy-duty commercial vehicles and other applications such as stationary use [FCB, April 2020, p1]. Daimler Truck Fuel Cell GmbH will transition into this planned joint venture, with Volvo acquiring 50% of the company. Daimler Truck and Volvo plan to start series production of heavy-duty fuel cell commercial vehicles for heavy long-distance haulage in the second half of the decade.
