"Cool coast" is the name of the place, Norwegian Svalbard, also known as Spitsbergen. 3'000 people live on several hundred islands, plus quite a number of polar bears. Longyearbyen is the administrative centre of Spitsbergen, which belongs to Norway.Since the beginning of the 20th century, coal has been mined there until today and for the most part used in the country's only coal-fired power station for energy supply. The Svalbard gained worldwide importance through the seed bunker, "second home" for one million seed samples from 240 countries.
