NRG Energy Agrees to Acquire Direct Energy for $3.6 Billion

On July 24, NRG Energy Inc. announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Centrica PLC’s North American subsidiary Direct Energy for $3.625 billion in an all-cash transaction. Direct Energy operates in all 50 U.S. states and six Canadian provinces, and is a retail provider of electricity, natural gas, and home and business energy-related products and services.
