Columbia Gas Responds to Environmentalists’ Repeated Calls for FERC to Examine “Indirect Impacts of Induced Gas Development” Associated with Pipeline Projects

A joint filing on Oct. 30 from Columbia Gas Transmission, LLC and Columbia Gulf Transmission, LLC, urged FERC again to reject any arguments by a group of environmentalists that cumulative impacts of single pipeline project applications, such as the Leach XPress (CP15-514) and the Rayne XPress (CP15-539) projects in the Marcellus and Utica Shale regions, must be evaluated each time. The environmentalists, including the Allegheny Defense Project, Center for Biological Diversity, FreshWater Accountability Project, Heartwood, and Ohio Valley Environmental Coalition (together, ADP), had lodged protests in both pipeline proceedings - in addition to filing in several other interstate natural gas pipeline application proceedings.
