IPAA’s EID Reports on 'Dubious Science' Behind New York State’s Fracking Ban

Energy In Depth’s (EID) Simon Lomax this week testified before the House Science Committee7 and focused his remarks on findings spelled out in an extraordinarily detailed new EID “white paper”, A Look Inside New York’s Anti-Fracking Echo Chamber. The report attempts to track the influence of anti-fracking activists on the “science” behind the new ban imposed on hydraulic fracturing of oil and gas in New York State. This paper examines the 184- page “public health review” prepared by Gov. Cuomo’s health commissioner to justify the ban. EID’s conclusion - “strong evidence of political pressure from a well- funded, well-organized network of foundations and activist groups opposed to shale development in New York.” EID is a research, education and public outreach campaign of the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA).
