Senate Energy Committee Continues its Brisk Review of Energy-Related Bills

The Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources held a hearing on June 9 to consider 42 possible bills, which run the gamut of energy-related issues: prohibiting federal regulation of hydraulic fracturing, giving states more influence over energy development on federal lands, improving electric grid reliability, authorizing exports of all crude oil and condensate products, supporting clean coal and carbon capture projects, and more. At what seems to be a fast legislative pace, the Committee’s latest hearing is the fourth and final one related to a broad energy package that the Committee is constructing from a total of 114 bills. Hearings in May considered energy supply and infrastructure issues; the June 9 hearing included legislation related to “energy accountability and reform.”
