America’s Natural Gas Alliance: Clean Power Plan Needs to Accommodate Load Growth Through Rate-Based Compliance

In an April 10 filing at FERC (AD15-4) with regard to the Commission’s examination of impacts to energy markets of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) proposed Clean Power Plan (CPP), America’s Natural Gas Alliance (ANGA) advocated a straightforward rate-based compliance model, which ANGA believes would allow for the best managed electric load growth over time. Increased manufacturing over the years will lead to increased demand for electricity (and natural gas) -- as the domestic manufacturing renaissance continues. ANGA wants to see the CPP accommodate these markets without stifling economic growth. Natural gas is “an appropriate fuel” to help meet load growth as it is “abundant and affordable.”
