ARESEACRH project in the Bahamas to find the best candidate for commercial fish farming has narrowed the search down to a handful of likely species, i Nassau based Tropic Seafood Ltd (TSL) engaged in the research to reduce commercial fishing pressureon natural resources and to ensure a consistent supply of fish for processing at its plant in the Bahamas.TSL is owned by Beaver Street Fisheries, of Jacksonville, Florida, one of the largest importers of farmed fish in the US.The most important criteria for choosing a species, according to TSL - which has been doing business in the Bahamas for more than 45 years - was strong global market demand for the species, and a relatively high price.
