Data sources: The following databases were searched electronically by the systematic review authors: Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), MEDLINE, Embase, CINAHL, Science Citation Index (Web of Science), Conference Proceedings Citation Index-Science (Web of Science), LILACS, and ZETOC, as well as the WHO International Clinical Trials Registry Platform (ICTRP) and Clinicaltrials.gov for clinical trials and WorldCat and Proquest Index to Theses for theses.
