Feeding values of Pennisetum purpureum varieties fertilized with animal manures

Implication Forage is important to livestock production since it is the major source of ruminant feed and nutrition forsustainable animal protein and energy.Introduction Pennisetum purpureum (Schumach) commonly known as elephant grass or Napier grass has been reported tobe a high yielding forage grass by several authors. It has been identified as high yielding forage on smallholder farms(Orodho, 1990) and enhance the quality and productivity. Olson and Paworth (2000) have reported positive effect on forageyield on the application of organic manure. This study therefore aimed at addressing the influence of animal manures on thefeeding values of the different Pennisetum varieties during the dry season.
