UNDER THE BRIDGE

In 2015,Transport Scotland notified SGN that it proposed to undertake a full refurbishment of the Erskine suspension bridge which crosses the River Clyde to the west of Glasgow.This bridge is a multi-span,cable-stayed box girder bridge spanning the river.It is over 1,300m in length and the deck is 45m above the river,with the pylons a further 38m above the deck.The main span of the bridge is 305m wide and connects the communities of West Dunbartonshire and Renfrewshire.As well as crossing the Clyde,the bridge also crosses the Forth and Clyde Canal and the North Clyde railway line.A local commuter railway station is situated beneath the bridge at the north side.
