摘要

The present article reports on the applicability of a novel heat flux sensor to investigate the bubble dynamics during pool boiling at subatmospheric conditions. This sensor mainly consists of seven concentric zones in which the instantaneous heat flux can be measured independently. The use of this sensor is especially beneficial when synchronized with high-speed video camera recordings, because this helps interpret the images by analyzing the thermal signature of the phenomena observed visually. This holds particularly true for boiling at low pressure, for which bubbles can exhibit diameters of several centimeters.
