Highlights?Air-methane flame behavior in presence of actuation was experimentally investigated.?The thermal and fluid dynamic actuation effects were studied in a non-reacting flow.?Numerical data gave insight on the flow regime.?The increase in flow velocity was mostly due to the temperature augmentation.?The velocity increase could also explain the change in the velocity spectra.AbstractThe following work details the experimental and numerical characterization of jet flow control in a coaxial Bunsen burner obtained by an alternate current driven dielectric barrier discharge plasma actuator (AC-DBDPA). Fuel and oxidizer flows could be inverted between the inner circular tube and outer annular tube. Use of the AC-DBDPA was intended to improve lean combustion performance.
