Concerns of a carbon dioxide (C02) shortage in the US have eased among brewers but some areas are still experiencing spot shortages, according to Chuck Skypeck, Technical Brewing Projects Manager at the Brewers Association. Disruptions related to the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic have impacted the supply of food-grade C02 and C02 for soft drinks and beer after ethanol production plants were shut down due to a drop in fuel demand caused by lockdown in March-April.
