Global thermal coal consumption is forecast to fall a marginal 0.2% in 2018 to 5.90Bt, before rising 0.5% to 5.93Bt in 2019,with coal continuing to form a dominant portion of the electricity generation mixes of many developed and emergingeconomies. AME forecasts export thermal coal demand to increase 2.4% to 1.04Bt in 2018, slightly lower than the forecastrate for export thermal coal supply of 2.5%. In 2019, export thermal coal demand is forecast to rise 1.4% to 1.06Bt.
