The custom compounding sector encompasses a broad range of companies,in terms of size-of-business set-up, scale-of-operation and technology-focus.What unites all of these processors is a high level of expertise in the science of elastomeric materials - typlcally built up over many years,and of-ten catering for some very niche applications. As such,the respondents to the ERJ Compounding Survey 2019,published in this issue,offer some valuable indicators as to what is happening in the rubber market and industry today. Among a range of questions,the survey asked companies to rate the current direction of the market between 1(decline)and 5(strong growth)with regard to material-type,country/region and end-use application.
