A process additive made by Evonik Industries is being used to turn scrap tires into a modern construction material for European roads.The Vestenamer-braned product is helping to improve the quality and durability of roads,thereby avoiding ruts and cracks and reducing maintenance costs.According to Evonik,the poly-octenamer-based additive makes it feasible to process rubber powder from scrap tires to generate asphalt with rubber content.The recycled material is mixed into road construction bitumen or asphalt to improve the quality of the mixtures and to extend the service life of road surfaces.
