Engine & Transmission Lubricants Committee

Over 30 participants attended the Engine & Transmission Lubricants Committee meeting to determine the topic for the committee's Annual Meeting session in October. The meeting began by welcoming everyone and having all attendees introduce themselves. Several potential topics were advanced for discussion, and the floor was opened up for all ideas. As a catalyst to initiate the discussion, I suggested that due to the immediate nature of changes being made, and the short time for adoption, dexos~(TM) might be a good topic to present. The thought was to have a speaker from GM present the story behind the development and global adoption of the dexos? specification; and in addition include key drivers in the areas of performance, viscosity and marketing philosophy.
