The Federal Trade Commission (FTC or Commission) recently released revisions to its "Dot Com Disclosures" guide, updating its guidance on how federal advertising law applies to online and mobile advertising and sales. The FTC first published the guide in 2000 and the rapid growth in digital media and mobile devices since that time prompted the Commission's review. "Dot Com Disclosures" is meant to be technology-neutral, applying generally to advertising and marketing on websites, mobile sites and in mobile applications.
