While the original quote we often hear is "necessity is the mother of invention," can't we really apply that to innovation as well? No matter what the industry, we certainly see innovation all around us in 2013. After all, I am looking at my online dictionary, not the one I used to have on a shelf, to define the terms innovation and invention. In Merriam-Webster online an invention is "a discovery or finding" and an innovation is "the introduction of something new, a new idea, method or device." Similar definitions, but my focus for this issue of Compoundings is on innovation.
