Czech Republic:Key Topics Discussed at the Central Europe Food Waste Conference 2019

The topic of tackling food waste is not new to the reports published in the European Food and Feed Law Review. It was addressed in a country report dealing mainly with food banks1 as well as in a more recent country report analysing corporate social responsibility of food retailers.2 On 10 June 2019, which happens to be the United Nations World Environment Day, TESCO Central Europe organized for the fourth time its regular Central Europe Food Waste Conference, this time in Prague, Czech Republic. Theconference was held under the auspices of the British Embassy in Prague, the Czech Association of Social Responsibility, and the Czech Federation of Food Banks. The conference venue welcomed speakers from the field of food retailers, food producers, Czech and Slovak governments, NGOs, food banks, and academia to discuss how to achieve further reduction of food waste across the entire food chain. The aim of this report it to summarize the main topics addressed during the conference, which may also be viewed online in Czech.
