Committee Meetings & Sessions Address Important Industry & Leadership Topics

Our meeting was attended by 56 people representing 37 member companies. The main topic for the majority of the meeting continues to revolve around GHS. Dr. John Howell informed our manufacturing members where they should be on the timeline for compliance with the June 1, 2015 deadline. There was also an update on recent communications with Maureen Ruskin, Director, OSHA's Office of Chemical Hazards. Subsequent to our last SHERA meeting in April, a letter was sent to Ruskin in May advising her of the difficulties our members were encountering and suggesting some options for an enforcement break. We also learned that in August The American Coatings Association, along with eight other trade associations, also petitioned OSHA for enforcement relief.
