1. INTRODUCTION Coronavirus (CoV) infection of humans has so far not been associated with severe disease. However, the discovery of the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) CoV revealed that highly pathogenic human CoVs (hCoVs) can evolve. As the characterization of new hCoVs is therefore an important task, we studied the cellular entry of hCoV-NL63, which was recently isolated from patients with lower respiratory tract illness.1
