Ah, the detachment of Zen. As we find ourselves halfway through this year, that detachment allows one to view the turmoil around us with the same interest one might have watching Whitewater rapids from the shore of a river. They are fascinating - powerful and potentially dangerous - but they have no direct effect on the viewer. Of course, the view is entirely different from a raft in the middle of Lava Falls in the Grand Canyon. A wall of water towers above you on every side and an absolutely deafening roar challenges your ability to sustain rational thought. This is the view to which many of us have become accustomed.
