Following up on a year of strong demand for machine tools in 2006,U.S.manufacturers continued to increase their purchases of advanced production equipment in the first half of 2007.Through June 2007,purchases were up 7.7 percent compared to the same period in 2006.This is according to the U.S.Manufacturing Technology Consumption(USMTC)report issued by AMT(The Association for Manufacturing Technology)and AMTDA(the American Machine Tool Distributors' Association.)
