Impressions of the World Petroleum Congress in Istanbul 2017

The World Petroluem Congress 2017 was held in Istanbul, Turkey, from 9-13 July. This worldwide meeting is organized every three years by a selected member country of the World Petroleum Council and always attracts thousands pf participants from indusry and politics. The first World Petroleum Congress was held in 1933 by the World Petroleum Council and was the milestone to establish the DGMK - German Society for Petroleum and Coal Science and Technology - in Germany. With 65 member countries, the WPC covers all aspects of the industry from technological advances in upstream and downstream operations to the role of natural gas and renewables management of the industry and its social, economic and environmental impact. The 22nd WPC in Istanbul with the theme "Bridges to our energy future" comprised plenary and keynote addresses from the leading IOCs and NOCs and international organizations plus an extensive technical congress program covering exploration and production, refining and processing, transportation and marketing, investment and sustainability issues, social responsibility well as HSE.
