Moving from HazCom to GHS

ILMA has committed, and will continue to commit, resources to assist members as they align their health and safety programs with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) March 2012 final rule, incorporating provisions from the Globally Harmonized System for the Classification of Chemicals (GHS) into the longstanding Hazard Communication (HazCom) standard. I have predicted that the transition to, and compliance with, the new rule will be costly for most ILMA members. In an effort to help control such costs, here are my tips to help you and your company plan the compliance process with the revised OSHA rule.
