摘要

An exact solution to the problem of a transient free and forced convective flow of an electrically conducting, incompressible viscous fluid past an infinite vertical porous plate impulsively held fixed in a uniform stream is presented. A magnetic field of uniform strength is assumed to be applied transversely to the direction of the free stream taking into account the induced magnetic field. Assuming the thermal, momentum and magnetic diffusivities to be the same, the equations governing the flow and transport have been solved using Laplace Transform technique. The expressions for the non-dimensional velocity, temperature, induced magnetic field, skin friction at the plate and the coefficient of the rate of heat transfer in terms of Nusselt number are obtained and the effects of the suction velocity and the applied magnetic field are discussed through graphs.
