An important, complex, highly non-linear industrial process that involves the measurement of several process variables is the tandem rolling of cold metal strip. In the authors' previous work, they developed a new, advanced method for control of this process that realized an improvement in the quality and yield of the output.1 Subsequently, in their follow-up work on advanced control for tandem hot rolling, additional improvements in this control method have been realized.2
