Development of High Performance Silica Bricks for Coke Oven Application

Silica bricks have been the standard refractory being used in the construction of coke oven over the years. Silica bricks have outstanding ability to withstand load at elevated temperature. The recent technological challenges put coke oven for higher productivity through various design modifications and refractory upgradation. The quality standard of modern coke oven silica bricks have also undergone changes accordingly. The current profile requirement of silica bricks in terms of technological properties has been specified in the internationally recognized German Standard DIN 1089-1 (1995).
