Compliance Directive for Hazard Communication Standard 2012

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recently released its Compliance Directive for the Hazard Communication Standard 2012 (HCS 2012). Although it is intended for OSHA's Compliance Safety and Health Officers (CSHOs), it is an invaluable tool for assuring compliance with the rule for anyone in the lubricants industry. By OSHA's own estimates, ILMA members are responsible for 40 percent of the new safety data Sheets (SDSs) and container labels. Therefore, all ILMA members should thoroughly review the contents of all portions of the Directive to ensure compliance with the rule and avoid a citation. Some of the significant sections are highlighted below.
