Before Covid-19 struck and the oil price plunged earlier this year, Wintershall Dea had already undergone significant change as it readied itself for an IPO later this year (EIF Dec.4 '19). Recently Energy Intelligence caught up with CEO Mario Mehmn to discuss how Germany's biggest oil and gas company is managing through the crisis. Q: Have you shut in any production at any of your producing fields around the world since the oil price crash occurred in early March? A: Our production is stable — which cannot be taken for granted in these times. In the first quarter of this year we produced 626,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day on average [unchanged year-on-year]. We were not impacted in the quarter by any Opec-plus production restrictions, but we do expect a modest impact from such restrictions for the remainder of this year in Norway. In addition, we will be taking action in the weeks ahead to shut in production at two small fields in Germany —Adorf and Duste — with again a modest impact on 2020 production. As such, our production guidance for 2020 remains unchanged in the range of 600,000-630,000 boe/d [excluding Libya onshore].
