Assessment of reinforced concrete tower leg foundations utilising non-destructive testing methods

Often neglected are the foundations during such analysis. Simplistic assumptions that the foundations were built exactly as designed and that as-built information is 100 per cent correct may not be valid. Construction alterations and a lack of as-built data further complicate efforts to establish adequate capacity of ting foundations. Tower performance is only as good as the foundations will allow. Failure of a tower foundation can be catastrophic and asset managers should be able to satisfy themselves as to the adequacy of such to the end of the assets useful life.
