An alliance of shipping companies backed by the International Chamber of Shipping and International Transport Workers’ Federation has called on governments to designate seafarers as “key workers” during the Covid-19 pandemic. The group said that with seafarers “in efect marooned” by pandemic restrictions, supply chains are at risk and crew changeovers must be allowed to resume.
