weak global demand keeps pressure on coke

Petroleum coke prices extended their declines this week as demand from traditionally large importers remained weak. In India, coke prices came of again amid a lack of buy- ing interest in seaborne cargoes and Indian buyers’ continued preference for more favourably priced thermal coal. Deals for US 6.5pc sulphur coke were scarce this week, as buyers are well stocked and expect a further slide in prices during the traditionally low cement production period over the monsoon season.
