India's largest private-sector petroleum coke producers Reliance Industries (RIL) and Nayara Energy, formerly Essar Oil, have cut their monthly sales prices for the rest of August. RIL on 25 August reduced its basic price before taxes and duties by around 750 rupees/t ($10.70/t) from earlier in the month to Rs9,200/t, market participants said. RIL produces around 6.5mn-6.6mn t/yr of petroleum coke, about half of India's total output. Nayara lowered its price by a similar amount to around Rs9,185/t.
