Indian coal imports rose in first half of 2018

Indian thermal coal imports increased on the year over January- June, with product from origins supplying higher grades eroding some of Indonesia's market share. Indian receipts over the first half of the year rose to 81.1mn t, up by 6mn t on the year, data from shipping agency GAC show. But receipts over the first six months of 2018 were down by nearly 7pc from 87.4mn t over the same period in 2015 and 87mn t in 2016.
