US Gulf coast anode-grade coke prices were largely unchanged in October, with the global market seeing little effect from an Indian court ruling allowing anode-grade coke imports to resume. Some market participants expressed surprise that green and calcined coke prices did not see more of a boost from the 9 October ruling, even if a temporary one. But it appears that Indian calciners were mostly able to rely on stockpiles they had been previously barred from consuming, as well a few purchases from the Chinese market that did not have a large impact on price. And Indian smelters were still pushing for discounts on calcined coke imports as they see plenty of supply available.
