Year-on-year gains in state-operated mining firm Coal India’s (CIL) deliveries slowed last month as transportation bottlenecks hindered operations, even as production edged higher. CIL deliveries inched up by 330,000t year on year — the weakest gain since October 2016 — to 43.91mn t in September. But offtake slipped by 1.31mn t from August — the fourth consecutive month-on-month fall. Deliveries tend to be weaker in August-September, when monsoon rains can flood roads, hindering transportation routes.
